any alternatives for dexedrine for weight loss

Posted by rjlockhart04-08 on July 4, 2010, at 20:52:10

Anyways i've gained weight recently and ... its pretty painful to see myself get very huge in the mirror. My clothes are 2 sizes to small and im really needing something that is going to make me lose weight like dexedrine did.

The only thing ... is i have a stict doctor against any stimulants and she told my mother I can't even have coffee! ugh! i can't even have coffee! because its considered a stimulant.

Is there any way for me to see myself in better state of mind and losing weight, i know dexedrine is not the awnser and shouldnt have been in the first place.

What should I just do....i really slack off when it comes to working out. Right now, im trying to recover from this redline i drank, i did lose weigbt without having to work out from it. But it's too intense, i can't handle it, they put so much crap in there thats herbal ginsing I can't function. I hate herbal stimulants, there awful.

Are there any recommendations. My current weight is 250 and im 5'7 so that gives you a hint to what I look like.

Just any imput for this situation.

I know the Zyprexa caused weight gain, but would lithium be a good replacement for Zyprexa? Zyprexa is mind numbing, and it tends to work on the moods through being somewhat of a mental tranqulizer for mania. Does lithium have any benefit, would it ... just even things out?

im so big....im so ashamed to outside and get in the pool.

matt

I've heard that litium causes weight gain also. Perphenazine is a good one that causes weight loss. Its a typical AP. Its also sedating and more simmilar to zyprexa than any others which all seem to cause weight gain. I take both zyprexa and perphenazine and having no problems maintaining a weight. I'm 220lb and 5'10". I take 15mg zyprexa and 3x12mg perphenazine. Its a realy good mix!

Two meds that are well known for weight loss are Topamax (topimirate) and Metformin. Topamax is an anticonvulsant that some argue is a weak mood stabilizer. It works by killing your appetite. Metformin is a diabetes drug that I think works through your metabolism but I am unsure. Amantedine is also a possibility I am looking into now. I'm not sure how/why it works.

All I can say is that I sympathise. I ballooned on Zyprexa and I was exercising like a maniac. It did nothing for my weight. What about a weight neutral SSRI? I lost heaps of weight on Zoloft and I mean heaps, but I know other that gained weight on it. You'll just have to talk to your doc about it. Good luck.

Ok, well ... see i don't have schizophrenia, but i do have schizod personality traits which i got dianosed at the last rehab that I was in. I don't think she would consider perphenazine but would ... its a major tranquilizer so yea i guess it would take away anxiety. I was on 20mg of Zyprexa but it felt like a bunch of bricks where on my eyelids... i couldnt stay awake, so on a emergency plan, i got moved to 10mg because I could not function well. I may ask to go back up to 20mg.

thanks...
rj

thanks...

Zyprexa needs to be warned about weight gain. I wished there was antidepressant that didnt have weight gain. The only one...is effexor, cymbalta, wellbutrin which tend to ... lose weight.

Thanks a bunch
