I'm on this dose now and it has only been a week. I will probably be on the same dose for some more weeks, but I've always been under the impression that 45mg is the dose that works for most people. Does that sound right?

I'm interested in how much mirtazapine works for *you*. I suppose the only way to know is to wait and see.

I too have just gone to 30mg and personally, I hate it. I'm supposed to go to 45mg next week. I'm being titrated up quickly due to severe depression and anxiety but it's just making it worse.
What's the withdrawal like? I have a terrible time coming off SSRI/SNRI's only. Everything thing else from TCA's, AP's and mood stabilisers don't leave me with any withdrawals at all.
Thanks everyone and good luck Conundrum, I hope it works well for you.

15mg for sleep for a month which didn't help me just stopped taking no side effects at all. Phillipa don't some go to 60mg?

That's a very good point.

RE Mirtazapine...
30mg at night certainly seems to be the most commonly used dose for depression. Whether or not it will prove to be an optimal dose for yourself, only time will tell.

I think Remeron is generally underdosed. Although there are plenty of people who respond to 30mg, there are also plenty who require 45-60mg. Some doctors are willing to go to 90mg.

I agree, I've looked at sites like askapatient.com and lots of people say how all it did was tired and make them eat all the time, and then I look at how much they were taking and it was only 15 mgs. Of course its not gonna work at 15 mgs. Thats why my pdoc and I agreed that I could start at 30 mgs.
