Would Wellbutrin counter side effects of Geodon?

Posted by tiopenster on June 16, 2010, at 8:18:00

I am taking Geodon for anxiety because I can't handle any of the SSRI's. It works because it works on the 5ht2 receptor, but it just saps me of my soul. I have lost motivation, passion and personality. Would Wellbutrin counter this effect that probably comes from Geodon's depletion of dopamine?

I'm taking 60mg of Geodon and it really is a downer. I'd rather not take Adderall if I don't have to and Provigil doesn't do anything for me. I was thinking that if antipsychotics decrease the amount of dopamine, perhaps Wellbutrin would increase the dopomane and put me back in balance.

I have lowered the dose but it stops working, but I have to say the side effects are much better. If I want to control the anxiety, I'm stuck with the higher dose, but a mind numbing experience. Do you think the Wellbutrin would help?

I think it's worth a try. How do you take the Geodon? Divided dose or all at once? You could try taking it all at night and see if side effects are less during the day, but it's my understanding that it has a short half-life and needs to be dosed twice a day.

I take mine once a day at night to minimize the side effects, but they're still pretty pronounced throughout the day. I also sleep 10 hours a day because of the Geodon.

I am taking 40mg twice a day. I am still feeling tired during the day after being on this for 1 month. I see pdoc tomorrow, going to see if I can take 20mg in morning and 60mg at night. I have no other side effects besides the drowsiness. This is the first time I have tried an atypical. I am very happy with the results, it helped get me out of a mixed episode and also helps with anxiety associated with mania.

Seroquel gave me really bad akathisia. Zyprexa was pretty good, but it gave me bad sedation and a veracious appetitite. It wasn't as good at treating the anxiety as Geodon. I'm thinking about trying it again though. I've tried Abilify and Risperdal too, but they were no good.
