Lunesta keeps me up

Posted by former poster on June 12, 2010, at 4:05:10

When I take Lunesta around 9pm I get a euphoria and motivation to get off the couch and call up friends, send emails. No big projects, but I don't feel like sleeping. Sometimes I'll be up until 12,1 or even 2am. In Wikipedia it says something about Lunesta being used to wake-up some rare cases of comatose patients? What can this mean?

Wow. Wanna trade? My Ambien works great for sleep (I could use some euphoria though). In addition, I'm feeling pretty comatose lately.

This could be a win win situation, no?

Actually I've had that same experience where a cold med, etc. says it will make you drowsy and ends up keeping me up half the night.

It is probably due to a phenomenon known as behavioral disinhibition. Some people react the same way to alcohol and benzodiazepines. Disinhibition is basically inhibiting the inhibitor. You can find out more about it by searching Google.

Glad to hear you are having good results! Ambien seems to produce little or no euphoria for me and is almost useless for helping me sleep. However it seems to leave me with a clearer head the next day. It seems to wear off after 3hrs. My pharmacist recomended taking 2 ambien tablets. I tried it and still didnt get a full night sleep. The extended release is better. My insurance company wont let me have it unfortunately.

When I was waking after 3-4 hours of sleep I took (2) 3mg melatonin when I woke up, that sent me right back to sleep. Good luck, insomnia stinks.

Well I'm relieved that I'm not comatose!
There was a time when I felt like I was slipping into a coma when I mixed Xanax with Halcion
