Forgot my Lamictal and boy, what a nightmare

Posted by Dan_MI on June 11, 2010, at 5:38:13

It's 6:30 EDT now and I've been up since 4am after going to sleep at midnight.

Evidently, I forgot to take my lamictal yesterday. I woke up at 4 with cold sweats, muscle aches and scary shivers.

At first I thought I was lithium toxic because I went running in the heat yesterday. This has happened before and I wake up with a very metallic taste in my mouth and severe tremors in my hand.

But the salt pill, which I bit in half to increase its absorption, did nothing. And that's when I realized I didn't take lamictal the day before.

I felt like I had a severe flu as I wrapped myself in layers clothes while I was still under the covers. I quickly got up and got the pill, but unfortunately was seized by a paroxysm of shivering before I could get back under the covers.

Relief came soon after the pill, but I pulled some muscles with the intense shivering.

This is highly disturbing. If I ever run out, or misplace my lamictal while on vacation or something, I have about 24 hours to get to the emergency room before things degenerate, and I eventually have a seizure.

How frightening for you. Seizures if you forget lamictal? I didn't know that. I wonder if it deserves it's own title for a thread? Phillipa
