After discussion with my pdoc, I will be coming off of Remeron. I have only been on it since January, and was originally put on it for sleep and nausea. I ramped up over January to 45mg, but then dropped back down to 30mg in February because I so agitated at the 45mg dose. 30mg still left me agitated and with a lot of anticipatory anxiety (which had never really been a problem for me before). My pdoc then had me go down to 15mg, which is where I have been since about the end of February.
The Remeron doesn't really seem to be doing much of anything for (although I did have a slight boost the first couple of weeks I was on it, which then turned to horrid agitation).
I reduced the 15mg to 7.5mg last night and will stay at 7.5mg for a week, I think, before stopping it completely.
So, my question is what can I expect in terms of withdrawal symptoms, if any, and how long do they usually last?
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hard to say what will happen. Not sleeping as well might happen. Maybe some slight flu-like stuff.
Keep in mind, the closer you get to zero mg, the harder it will get. Usually. For me going from 15mg to 7.5mg was easy. Going from 7.5mg to zero was bad.
If you have any probs, hopefully not, customize the dose sizes. Simple. Cut the pill with a knife or razor blade. Chop little corners off, whatever. They don't have to be exact sizes. I sometimes used tiny chunks of about 1mg for sleep and it was better than any sleep med.
Go from 7.5mg to 7mg to 6mg to 5mg and so on. That's what I would do. And did. Maybe you'll have an easier time. Dunno.

It never really worked as a sleep aid for me and, I think, made my RLS worse. Hopefully I won't have too many problems going from 7.5mg to 0, but I will use your suggestion of chopping off little corners and going a bit slower if the going gets rough.

Only took 15mg for a month didn't help sleep so just stopped it no problem. Now I did have benzos. It just did nothing for me. Phillipa
