what is monoamine turnover?

Posted by linkadge on April 27, 2010, at 14:47:37

Hi, I need to ask a clarifying question. What exactly is monoamine turnover? I assumed it was simply the rate at which a neurotransmitter is metabolized. Is this correct?

So, does increased serotonin turnover mean increased serotonin release, reuptake and metabolism?

Any help is appreciated.

Turnover is the rate at which the neurotransmitter is both synthesized and catabolized at equilibrium.
