Hello,
On the way out of my pDocs office today he asked me to pee in a cup for a urine test. Figures just yesterday a friend gave me a couple percocet 10s for recreational use. I've been seeing this doc off and on since '05 and he's NEVER done this - nor was there specific cause....
I've read mixed things about the oxycodone in the percocet showing up on a standard drug test but I'm not really sure how they're testing it. The only thing the guy I gave the urine to would say is that the doctor wanted to check for meds he was prescribing (which IMO is difficult). I told him those:
Parnate (40mg)
Seroquel (100mg)
Lithium (900mg)
Klonopin (.05x3)
Lamictal (150mg)Is there anyway they wouldn't notice (and be furious) about the percocet? The thing that really sucks is that although I'm 32 my father has been coming to visits with me since I'm coming off an extremely rough manic episode (December). Explaining the perocet thing to him would be not be good to put it lightly....
I don't see him again until 2/22 but I'm stressing out now.
Any comments would be appreciated.....

Jay I thought you were manic. Well you got caught right? Now the doc will know how you were doing. I think it's good he found out. Just my thought not to be mean. Love Phillipa

No not manic since late November (but I am BP1). It's not like I take percocet all the time just happened to yesterday and guess I'll have to explain (or more likely make up a story) now. Not going to tell them my best friend+wife has them all the time. My folks would never let me see them again.
Was hoping for a more optimistic response honestly :)
All I know is I can't stress over this for 22days. ugh.....

Well I talked to my father and just explained that I took a percocet w/ a friend on Friday (a girl they know I go out w/ but will never meet). Said she had 2 left from getting her wisdom teeth out.
Basically I totally lied to protect a couple who I spend most of my time with.
But anyway he took it great and was like what's the doctor going to do. So I'm happy now that he's on my side in the event at the next meeting the doctor confronts me on it.
I'm going into Mental Health Court soon where I'll be randomly tested all the time. So I've been very good w/ anything recreational but this was out of the blue. I need my folks on my side.
Anyway hopefully it'll just come back negative (apparently standard tests don't test for oxycodone just morphine/heroine). But we'll see what happens.

That would really p me off if a doctor did that. Not because I take meds I shouldn't but because sometimes I don't take the meds I am prescribed.
To be honest, I don't think that urine is the standard way to test for psychiatric medications. If he wanted to know whether you were taking your meds he could have ordered a standard blood test.
Plus, the fact that he popped it on you seems strange.
I have a gut feeling he wants to specifically test for recreational use.
That being said, I would have just said "sorry, I just took a wizz, I'm out".
Unless he asks for a hair follicle test. You could shaved your head I guess :)

I suppose you could also say you are having suicidal lows, or that the parnate just isn't cutting it anymore and you took percocet to help depression (or something along those lines). There might be more sympathy.

I was completely manic and my folks (where I'm living) called the cops on me. I knew they were coming but in that mindset I was like f* it I'm getting high. Happened to have a little pot left over took it behind the house and started smoking.
When the cops came I offered them some.
They arrested me.
Mental Health court is an alternative available in some states to probation. Kinda similar I think but reserved for people w/ who commit small crimes who have mental illness. My lawyer thought it was my best option. I've allowed my med records to be released but they still haven't gotten back to me on whether not 1) I qualify (which I should based on 10+ hospitalizations) and 2) what exactly I'd have to do probably over a 6month to 1year period to make it (the pot charge) "go away".....
