In the past couple years, there have been occasions where the OCD, anxiety and mania have combined to result in very severe cutting incidents.
The latest period has lasted for about a month, while I've been on Parnate, Geodon, Liothyrion (sp), and Xanax. Despite these medications, I develop such a strong self-hatred that I engage in cutting as an attack on myself. While they used to be just bad scratches, now they're serious wounds.
My therapist knows about them and I am sure will communicate the situation to my psych doc and GP. Before I hear from them, I was hoping someone here would have a suggestion as to a med that might help control the self-hate reaction.
Any ideas would be greatfully appreciated.

Greywolf I'm so glad your therapist knows. Think hospital needed for a bit? Safety issues? I'm sorry Love Phillipa

I used to cut a lot. I know that depakote helps stop impulsiveness. What I would really recomment is to see if you can get into a DBT programme. I did one for year. I haven't cut since May 1st. :)

Thanks, folks. No hosp possible. Already spent enough time there this year.
Making arrangements to spend a few days with a professor/psychiatrist in Boston who I'm told is the top expert in the type of OCD I experience--just depends on if he'll see me. Guess he's mostly into teaching and writing now. We'll see.

Thanks for the concern, Phillipa.
Things continue along the same path. Pretty scarred up, but taking steps to address it. Condition is driven by an extreme self-hatred caused by an incessant OCD problem that has become much more severe over the last couple years.
Fortunately, I may have the chance to be seen by the guy most people consider the foremost expert in this type of OCD and arrangements are being made for me to visit him in the next couple months. My therapist knows him and my psychiatrist is a research psych who is well-respected, so if anyone can get me in, these two will.
Just keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks again for your concern.

hey, i'd reccomend NAC as well. and taking lithium, even just a very low dose, i think the anti-suicide benefits might cross over for this.
