I've never taken Phenobarbital...yet I know it lasts about 12hour-or more..
Xanax XR resembles somewhat of a long acting benzodiapine because it kinda makes you tired, it doenst make you depressed I can you that, Klonopin is the big "depress" medication you take.
What it does is...4mg is about .75-1mg...on the first release mechanism,it's just diffrent than the regular Xanax, even in it's effect's somehow it just dissoves very slow. I take 2mg....through the day I can feel it somewhat, than .5mg which usally when you take 2mg, ".5" mg is released the first part of the coating.
Anywone else?

Phenobaribol is a much stronger med and not used much that I know of unless seizures and other medical conditions. Phillipa

Like...say you took mmm I'm trying to think of the "release" mechanism that XR has. I know that around 4mg it releases roughly about 1mg on the initial dose, it doesnt release like in "spurts" it's slowly released into the bloodstream, making it hard to abuse, yet I've read alot of things on XR being abused.."crushing it". They need to come out with something for Xanax like "Concerta" because concerta can't be "crushed" it's so hard, the only way you would get anything, is if you took like 10 of them.
Alot of times, I asked my doctor in the past about Phenobarbital but it's alway's been like "what??" "phenobarbital, no! it's too old and outdated". Barbiturates I know cause more of "drunk" like state, just from reading about them. Benzo's are more relaxing but they still can make you "stumble" if abused, but compared to seconal, or any barbiturate they don't match the "drunkness" and "numbness" that barbiturates do. But if taken correctly, none of this will happen. It's like .... Xanax Bar's today..I used to take them for anxiety [prescibed], seconal's where call "red devils" and where abused from 1930-`970's until the goverment put a stop on them because of the deaths they caused.

Anyway's...got off track a bit. I just rerember I researched this alot in 2004 and then it made me look like I knew too much about medications, it's just they became an intrest...

Xanax XR makes you kinda tired though the day...rather than the instant release form, it's like taking Halcion, it works really quick and then wear's off.
