Lamictal

Posted by john51 on December 27, 2009, at 8:49:13

I am currently between ADs, was on Cymbaltal for over a year then pdoc started me on Aplenzin which is same as Wellbutrin except for one distinction....wellbutrin is bupropion hcl and Aplenzin is bupropion hydroBromide. I stopped the Aplenzin as it seemed to be making me more anxious..even agitated. However I am not sure whether Aplenzin was actually causing that or if it was because I simply stopped taking Cymbalta and started taking Bupropion. Now my pdoc also wants me taking Lamictal (I am not exactly sure why) and I have titrated up to 100mg but he says the target is 200mg.
My question is this:
Is there an optimum time of day to take Lamictal? Is it better to take it in the morning or at night? Is Lamictal known for causing wakefullness or somnolence? Anxiety/stimulation or calmness?
John

I only got up to 50mg. What I noticed was I did get angry. But didn't find it stimulating or sedating. I think I took mine at night. Phillipa

There was no need to stop taking Cymbalta when you started Aplenzin. Maybe you should start taking Cymbalta again.

I tried Lamictal briefly. My problem with it was that it seemed to slow my reactions while driving, which was obviously dangerous. It had an interesting feel to it, though. Be careful.
