Really good info here

Posted by willyeee on December 17, 2009, at 21:23:04

Came across this article,i was extremly impressed by it,it amazingly covers almost all the known chemicals in the brain, including gaba ending the question for me that gaba does not enter the brain, and speaks on all the gaba sub types, gaba a gaba b, and one i never knew of,gaba c.

Love to hear what anyone thinks.

Thanks for this, it covers issues that I have been asking my doctor about for some time.

The Baclofen connection is of particular interest. About eight years ago nothing was helping and I was a mess. I asked my MD for something to alleviate the build up of muscle tension--Baclofen.

By day two I went into remission of all symptoms--no side effects--nada. Couldn't believe my luck....BUT........after six weeks the level of sedation was extreme and I had to discontinue. I asked the Prof who was treating me to investigate, but he wasn't interested, so I decided to look into it myself, which is onerous for someone with ADD inatentive, which is when I realized I was suffering from ADD as the Baclofen stimulant connection was made.

Anytime I switch medication, I can avoid the low periods between washout and reintroduction by using Baclofen for short periods

Thanks once again, I will give it a good read and discuss it with my doc!

Yeah i used a beta version of googles soon to come WAVE browser, what it does is no longer will ur search have u reading a artcle from 2 years ago, rather the new browser will upadate every i believe 10 hourse so youll have the newest and freshest results on searches.

Back to the point,i also was amazed,i printed it out and will enjoy reading it as it will take time to take it all in,so i recomend maybe highlighting what u want ur doc to see or he maybe be turned of by the size of the article.

Also bacoflen is a gaba b drug, with almost identical properties to ghb,and even more so the over the counter PHENIBUT,they work on gaba which has been known to help people,i use ghb therputical for my depression anxiety and social avoidant behaviour, and i know people who love phenibut which again is exactly the same as bacoflen,so like you there are many people who find relieaf with gaba b substances. thanks for responding.

Interesting. So mescaline is a 5-HT2 inhibitor. Makes you wonder if mescaline would make a good antidepressant, probably at doses less than those used to cause hallucinations.

Unfortunately, I was unable to figure out what effect abilify's affinity for D2 receptors could potentially have on depression. My previous pdoc seemed to think that abilify's dopaminergic effects work to elevate mood, but I am not convinced. And this article did not settle the issue for me.

Maybbe i can shed some light to this for you as i windered the same thing at first.

And this is wwhat one pharmcology site said,as well as a friend i know knowledgable in meds told me,

Ablifiy has two main method of actions, one is the one its approved for which is as a anti psychotic
making it a dopamine ant-gonist (drugs which block,in this case blocking certain dopamine sites thought to be cause of disease.)

The second is very uniuqe that not all meds hold, and that is abilify at smaller doses acts as a dopamine modulater, short meaning is that it balances dopamine in the brain and can actualy increase dopamine in this respect,in fact my girl friend uses it this way,she said her first week on it and shell never forget wow good she felt, full of energy and mood elevation, she still useses it and she has nothing but a cfs diagonise.

Due to ablifiys unique two way action it has become a popular med,for both add ons for bipolar to control mood,as well as add ons to anti depressants to potentiate them, make them work better.
