Hey, after a short trial (5 days) of amisulpride at 25mg, i had to give up due to irrability, insomnia, over-stimulation, ringing in ears. I have now been off the drug for 6 days, however, these effects have yet to fully dissipate? Is this common? How long till i can expect to feel "normal" again?
Many thanks,
Rover

Gosh, I don't know. I've done short trials of amisulpride and when I stopped the effects took maybe 3 to 4 days to settle down.
Maybe something got sparked and you just need to put a little water on the fire? I'm thinking something like a day or two of Glycine, Gaba, 5htp, magnesium, combo of any 2 or 3...the inhibitory agents. I bet once you calm things down with some help for just a day or two things will return to pre-amisulpride.

In other words should be out of your system. Could it be something else you think? Love Phillipa

Yeah im preety sure i'm having an adverse reaction to scopolamine withdrawal as when i take it again today it relieves the symptoms....im worried these effects are permanent, going to start another thread on it, but see the link.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/6739517
There was a better study, but i can't find it, basically it suggest that chronic scopolamine treatment causes hyper-sensitivity to cholinergic agents, which is something i have found myself suffering from and i dont know if this is reversible?
thanks

>Rover, the things you experience on/after amisulpride seem to be extremely atypical - are you taking anything else? Are you a hypochondriac?
(I am one myself.)I am VERY med-sensitive, and in my experience amisulpride is a very subtle med that has virtually no noticeable side-effects, although it makes prolactin levels go through the roof. Also, I have never heard of amisulpride withdrawal before. I'm not discarding your experience, but perhaps you're focusing on the amisulpride while missing other factors.

>This caught my attention. I am not an expert on 5htp. But hanging out at a forum where a lot of people have used it has given some insight into the intricacies of its use.
These are basically the results of what actual users have experienced:
1. When 5htp works briefly or poops out, it means it is needed but the missing ingredient was tyrosine in combination with it.
2. Successful users do a lot of experimenting with dosage size and timing.
3. Some people need megadoses while others need only an 1/8th of a normal dose.
4. Taking it daily is not always the best thing to do. Some people find that once their serotonin stores are filled up, they only need to refill them once every 3 days or so.More often than not, any problems with 5htp are the lack of tyrosine.
Those are all just general observations from people that work with 5htp a lot.
This is the end of the thread.
