I feel your pain. :( Last night I took 200 mg of Trazodone and I still didn't sleep. I feel like absolute crap. Getting some sleep would make all the difference in the world.

When I was on parnate I initially had insomnia and than it just went away after six weeks and than I could sleep okay.

Any way to get Remeron? Its the most powerful antihistamine out there. Way more potent than trazodone

It's contraindicated with Parnate.

I'm glad you are sticking with it. It would be a shame to give up before it has a chance to do its magic.
Keep us posted.

i'm starting CBT this week soon, so hopefully that should help, especially if i have to withdraw. coming off Nardil, even after 12 weeks, was hell.

Sticking with it. I didn't take it for 2 days so am back down to 20mg but today I will up it to 30mg.
Hypotension is bad- it appeared 7 hours after dosing and knocked me out. How weird. But my pdoc days it will go.....Thanks for asking..

that's true but so is your trazodone!
They are both so damn weak sris, mirtazapine might be even weaker ..
Sorry that you are feeling so bad :( I really hope it's helping you soon!!!
Wow 200mg of trazodone isn't helping you at all?
Did it help you in the past when you didn't take parnate with your insomnia?I know a few people by person who don't get sedated at all with trazodone..
I also had insomnia before taking parnate and trazodone helped me really much before and now on parnate tooIf it was helping you in the past, how long is it since you took it at last?
Take care, keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Hi, I was taking Trazodone in August to help me sleep. 200 mg would always do the trick. I tried 200 mg again last night and once again, I did not sleep. I am tempted to try 300 mg and see what happens.

Doing CBT is a good idea. I hope it helps.

Sorry Maxime that I even tried to motivate you not to take the 200mg the first night :(
What's the maximum recommended dose for immedate release trazodone anyway?300mg sounds like really really much..
What would you say to mirtazapine as a sleep aid? Too much weight gain?Good luck Maxime, I really hope you find something that let's you sleep! Insomnia is sooo terrible!
Feeling for you,
Sunbath

600 mg is the maximum recommended dose for trazodone as an antidepressant. I think I will try 300 mg tonight and see what happens. If it doesn't work, then I am not going to bother trying anymore with the trazodone. I've been awake for 4 days now. :(

I was awake for two nights in a row on parnate but my doc started me on 100mg of seroquel at bedtime and that seems to help. Have you tried seroquel?

Seroquel doesn't sedate me unfortunately. I can take up to 400 mg and not feel a thing. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Remeron isn't an SRI but it may be contraindicated for other reasons. Might be worth talking to your dr about.

Have u tried sleeping during the day. I've found that if for some reason I miss nights sleep I have trouble sleeping the next night. But even if I get a little sleep during the day I can get back to my usual routine of sleeping at night after staying up all night.
Its like your body gets in a mode of not sleeping so it stops, but there are usually windows when you are not thinking of it when you get tired during the day and can sleep. Take advantage of those and you may find yourself able to sleep at night again.

No, I've been avoiding sleeping during the day because I thought it would make things worse. Maybe I will try it tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

yeah i raised the dose to 50mg without my doctor's orders. the higher the go, the more anxiolytic it gets, which is good. i've been napping during the day. unfortunately, i tried cutting out sleep meds and just haven't slept for 2 nights.
when you were on 80mg did you need a sleep aid maxime?

At this point I am trying to get to 80 mg ASAP!
When I was on 80 mg before I didn't need a sleep aid. It's weird. When I was on Parnate before it was very stimulating and I didn't get this daytime fatigue. Now it seems like my reaction to it has changed.

I wouldn't mind being unable to stop sleeping for a while. It would be a nice change from this damn insomnia!

> It's weird stuff. I can't stop sleeping, sometimes all day and night
I agree with you that its a really weird drug. Somedays I am so tired that I can't stop sleeping like you- all day and night (and that adds to my depression.) and I want to quit the drug.
Then I get a few days during which, although I haven't slept for more than 3-4 hours, I am up all day. I wouldn't say I am stimulated or anything . Just awake. Its so strange and has nothing to do with dose increases or when I take the drug. Weird....Well I hope your sleepiness goes (and mine too)
My fingers are crossed for the both of us.
Take care
D
