Hi all,
I just started on Nardil for chronic atypical depression. I have read various posts saying that certain anaesthetics and painkillers (and adrenalin?) cannot be taken with an MAOI or should be administered in a much reduced dose. This makes me worry that in an emergency I might get killed/coma'd/stroke'd by the EMT (well sometimes getting killed worries me, sometimes it seems a good thing but that's a different story).
So the medical ID jewellery allows lines of text to be inscribed. I was thinking of:
JOHN
DOE
MEDS: MAOIShould I put an 'allergic to anaesthetic' line or similar? Or might that confuse the issue? Should anything else be on there?
Cheers,
Pete

Hi Pedr:
I just got a medical alert bracelet. Mine says:MAOI ALERT
MY NAME
PARNATE USER
NO DEMEROL
NO TYRAMINESIt isn't all that big or attention getting.
The back also says "allergic to sulfa" and my close-by son's phone number.
I have no idea if this is "correct", but it seemed to me to do the job. I live alone and
I feel much more comfortable with the Parnate now.

I got a Medic Alert necklace recently and they automatically write on the back of the pendant: "TAKES A MAO INHIBITOR."
This is the end of the thread.
