Sweating - Effexor or lithium??

Posted by jms600 on June 1, 2009, at 17:48:13

Does either Effexor or lithium increase sweating? I am on both of these (along with buspirone) and am suffering from what i can only describe as severe sweating. It's getting very troublesome. Any advice anyone?

I can say that Effexor worked wonders for me for 1 month. I went to the gym everyday and had lots of drive. The energy hit me right away along with more sweating. I think it came from the Noradrenaline effect of Effexor. that entire drug pooped out after a month so I quit and sweating stopped.
Now Im on Parnate. Parnate also has huge adrenaline properties that can be felt right away after starting the med (energy /drive etc). It gives me even more sweating, usually at doseing time( this is not going away, ive been on Parnate for 10 months). The effexor sweating may stop. I was only on it for about 2 months and it did not stop during that time.

Good luck, im on the same quest for an answer to this problem..

For what it's worth, Effexor didn't cause sweating for me. Have never been on Lithium. Good Luck.

Either could, if you're not drinking enough fluids/electrolytes, the lithium could cause an imbalance, but its hard to say, if you compare Effexor as a SRI/SNRI to Anafranil which is known to have sweating as a side effect.

Probably more the Effexor.

Hi, Just wanted to say that YES I definitely had increased sweating for about a month after I started. It really bothered me, then suddenly I realized it had stopped! I think I am still sweating more with exertion or in the heat, but it is much better.

Sorry, I forgot to say that it is Effexor XR, 37.5 and then 75 that caused the sweating.
