Five years ago I began taking niacin to control my elevated cholesterol numbers (and low HDL). At that time, I could not afford the Lipitor, which had been prescribed. In my search for an alternative, I came across the website www.cholesterolscore.com . The wide-ranging information about niacin therapy that I found at cholesterolscore.com allowed me to safely continue my therapy without fear.

Don't you get the flushing on niacin? Can be avoided on niacinamide. Lipitor is getting bad press now and some's liver produces high cholesterol and some meds cause it. But HDL if low are the most important number to monitor. How high is your cholesterol? May want to post to alternative board also. More traffic here sometimes. Phillipa
