All I do is eat and while I'm eating I am planning what I am going to eat later!
I am gaining like there is no tomorrow. I tried putting some jeans on and was appalled that I could not get them up....much less zip them.
I don't like this.....even 5 lbs affects my arthritic knees.Anyone experienced this problem?
Thanks, Pat

Hey fayeroe! I'm really happy to see you!
I did not notice a weight gain during a trial of buspar, but I do notice that food tastes better on some medications.
Trazadone is the drug that I have to be very careful with - I could eat your brahama bull (yes the fast one) on that drug. Luckily, it slows me down enough that he would catch me first ;)
To stave off obesity I drink a lot of water and eat high fiber foods. I guess I'm so bloated from the fiber that I don't want to eat anything.
Seldom.

I've served my time and am now on probation. :-)

I have been binge eating. I am going to get rid of the sugar because I know it aids fatty foods to cut you off at the knees. I've always eaten a ton of fiber but I crave sweets now.
Thank you, Seldom! Pat

I've been taking Buspirone for about 2 months, and have no noticable side effects other than some strange brain shock type feelings that persist for a few minutes within about 10 minutes after I take my 15 mg. dose twice per day.
I have had weight gain problems from SSRIs and then when I quit taking them, in addition to hormonal issues and slowed metabolism, had intense evening cravings for carbs/sugar. When I tried Wellbutrin, w/in 2 days I lost those cravings. Not that cravings are your issue, but you didn't mention whether or not you were taking anything else in addition to Buspar.
But weight problems w/Buspirone--no, definitely no affect upon weight. I'm 100 percent sure about that for my case.
You might be interested in going over to the Health forum where a few of us were discussing weight loss issues. Maybe we could form a micro support group over there.

> Maybe you could fool yourself with stevia?**"If Stevia is to be used in a dietary supplement for a technical effect, such as use as a sweetener or flavoring agent, and is labeled as such, it is considered an unsafe food additive. However, in the absence of labeling specifying that stevia is being or will be used for technical effect, use of stevia as a dietary ingredient in a dietary supplement is not subject to the food additive provisions of FD & C ACT.**
I love the FDA.......always looking out for us.
I had not heard of Stevia and when I researched it I read the wonderful paragraph above and thought you might enjoy it too.

Without the FDA looking after us, sandwiched as we are between the drug abuse and its control industry, I would lose all hope :)

you are not imagining this symptom
when i took buspar it was a blessing as far as helping with a bad bout of anxiety
i gained almost 40 pounds. with a starting weight of 120 that is a huge gain
the buspar turned off the function on my brain that should have been saying "okay--full now--stop putting food in your mouth
one med and then another
i have never gotten below 140 again
it's been 6 - 7 yearsi think they should give buspar to patients that are dealing with long term illness and lose their appetites

I've gained 20 lbs! And I'm not happy about it on several levels. The weight gain causes my knee to hurt more.
I'm trying to buy groceries that won't put 5lbs on my hips just by looking at it.....it really irritates me because I've always been so careful about eating low/no fat..
Thanks, Patp.s. it has really helped my anxiety and my low grade depression...
