Not able to sweat(perspire)Advice please

Posted by odon on February 28, 2009, at 9:24:53

Hi,to make a long story short I was taking te ssri Paxil for over 7 years. It worked great.I took it for mild depression, anxiety and ocd.It stopped working about 7 years ago,I've tried many other medications, and they do not work, sometimes it seems I'm taking a suger pill. The only medication that works is xanax,it helps with depression(a little) and anxiety .For the past 7 years Ive had bad depression and anxiety.---I used to be a person that sweated more than average, now I hardly sweat, and I live in a warm climate.Could not being able to sweat be a symptom of something that makes me resistant to medication that used to work great?

Hi I wouldn't think so. I'm sorry your meds have failed how high a dose were you on? paxil l0 mg with xanax about 14 years ago the first one tried worked after being sick from it after about three months. Know the frustration of trying all or a lot of meds and nothing. I think I'll google sweating and meds and see what I see. Love Phllipa and if first post welcome to babble. Lots of knowledge here.

Oh dear... sounds like what happened to me after taking Elavil (amityrptiline). And now I have this weird syndrome.

Check out 'Sjogren's syndrome' on Google.

I've got the same problem after coming of Lexapro after a year. If you find out how to fix it, please let me know.

Phillipa,

No Dr said it didn't cause it, but could have triggered the Sjogrens.

Jan,

Dr. said Sjogren's could have been present 'latently' in my body. Maybe Tryptizol (Elavil) made it become 'manifest' because of aggravating the dryness issues.

That's the best I can convey it...

Love,
Maria
