buspirone dated sep 27 2006, yay or nay?

Posted by iforgotmypassword on February 17, 2009, at 9:20:40

i actually seem to have a lot left. i guess it wasn't much of a trial. they are 10mg tablets gen brand.

they are not discoloured like some old lorazepam once looked. there just seems to be a lot of dust in their from it getting kicked around on my floor. (indeed it was in the mess around the path to my bed for quite a while, i hate to remind people of this but i am a hoarder.)

the pills themselves look fine. is there anything that could be different about them almost 2 and half years after filling them (and i don't know how long they were on the shelf beforehand, but maybe not long they may have been special order, i can't remember)

if they are okay to take and haven't decayed dose-wise how long should i wait after discontinuing nefazodone? (i stopped taking it mid-saturday (did not take second dose). so sunday was the first day i did not take any nefazodone.

If it's close enough for government work, it ought to be good enough for us. They use "expired" drugs all of the time, and there's nothing wrong with them. Of course, it does depend on the drug itself and how it was stored. I have some 3 year old Parnate that works just fine. I say go for it if you have no other alternatives.

How long do you think you will give buspirone to work? It could take 3 weeks. Interesting drug.

As long as they haven't been exposed to moisture and intense heat its likely that they are probably still at the edge of their usefulness.

At least here, I've noticed that medications I take have now been dated from the pharmacies between 18 months and 3 years unlike the past.

As for adding it without your doctor's say -- well that I can't get into, I wouldn't play with medication in that way but maybe I'm misunderstanding and this has been discussed.

It is true that there have been limited government trials (military) of most-used pharmacopoeia in their effectiveness over a considerably longer period of time -- however it is likely that those medications had been stored under conditions that didn't necessarily include every situation the average person would have left their medications in.

That being said, some medications were still found effective after more than a decade.

But some medications have a notoriously short shelf life and should be heeded as its not known what metabolites and breakdown products you will be getting.
