I've been taking 1mg on some days (up from .5mg) and I've got to say I am less anxious and feeling a lot more comfortable. I've been resisting taking more than the .5mgs per day at night, but the extra .5 in the AM is making my days a lot more manageable.
I'm just wondering how much klonopin people might find helpful?
thanks,

In reply to a little extra klonopin + what's a 'typical' dose?, posted by obsidian on January 27, 2009, at 20:43:01
In studies 1 mg has been found to be on average the best dose for things like anxiety disorders, some studies also found that 2mg wasn't any more effective than 1mg for anxiety although that doesn't mean it's the case for everybody naturally. But yeah i also found 1mg to be the best dose or sometimes i went to 2mg per 24 hours taken at night as it seemed to help me sleep longer and then still have an effect througout the day.

I've taken but also was advised by a pdoc that l.5-2mg was a good dose for someone like me who's been on benzos for so many years. Love Phillipa

I find .25mg in the AM helps tremendously. Any more than that during the day makes me too tired, but it's OK if I take .5-1mg in the evening because it helps me get to sleep.

Oh, you don't have your cape on. Never mind.
I have been taking Klonopin for 10 years to treat nerve pain in my neck from a car accident I was in. Worked like a charm, still does for that. I started at .5 which nearly knocked me out, but over 10 years I'm up to 3mg per day and am trying to taper down.
Most people favor it over many other things for its effectiveness with anxiety. You probably will have to increase it slowly over time as you become tolerant. If something really stressful happens and you take more than you should (within reason) you'll probably just fall asleep.
One thing, I d/c'd it once when I had surgery. I wasn't aware you couldn't and I didn't want to mix it with pain meds. Well the w/d was &*%$! I thought the surgery had killed me. It took me 30 days to figure it out, then I was fine. So my point is, don't go up unless you have to because its difficult to w/d from.

I've taken the darn thing off...it's nothing but trouble ;-)
> So my point is, don't go up unless you have to because its difficult to w/d from.Yeah, I know. I'd like to take just enough. I know I'm going to develop a tolerance. I was on a higher dose a long time ago, then was off it for a while. I assume I can do it again.
be well,
