Hi
I have Schizophrenia and take Clozapine (200mg) and Amisulpride (400mg), as well as some antidepressants. Recently I have been having regular panic attacks, which are awful. Does anybody else have these? Could they be linked to my meds? I've recently been coming down on Clozapine (800mg to 200mg) and going up on Amisulpride (200mg to 400mg).

Hi,
I suffer from schizophrenia and have experienced prolonged severe panic attacks in the past. While schizophrenia itself can bring about such attacks, mine were a result of benzodiazepines, so I guess a change in meds can also be a cause. Also undiagnosed physical problems, if those haven't been ruled out.

Thanks Nellie! Did you have panic attacks BECAUSE you took Benzos? I thought they were supposed to stop attacks! I take diazapam at the moment, only when I get an attack. How did you stop yours in the end? Mine seem to occur mostly when I am shopping or when I am in places like a bar or restaurant. It does my head in. xx

My doc has increased my Clozapine, so hopefully that should help! Do you take Clozapine Nellie?

My panic attacks were brought on by taking benzos for several months. I began to take them for another reason and ended up with severe panic and difficulty thinking. I had to take perphenazine in order to get off the benzos. The antipsychotic stopped the attacks but eventually messed me up in other ways. Never took clozapine.
