I havnt been able to sleep lately and I had some trazodone in my drawer so I took it last night and the night before. Yesterday I woke up with racing thoughts and some anxiety. Today I woke up and felt great but now I feel super anxious. Im also on zoloft and its good.....but Im just in a hole these days. Dont know what to do.. maybe its the trazodone causing all tihs worry......

For me, Trazodone is sleeping-aid to calm my nerve due to sedating-effect that takes before the bed.
In my guess, the combo. 'Zoloft and Trazodone' probably makes you anxious and racing thoughts. Simply, it might be not a good combo. for you.
You didn't mention what mental issue you're having, ... but in your description, 'racing thoughts,' sounds like you have Bipolar, if not Major depression.
Zoloft is not for me at all, seeing that the Zoloft is one of potent SSRIs that makes my Bipolar Symptoms get worse. However, everyone reacts differently on different meds. You may need to talk to your psychiatrist first if the combo. doesn't do any good for you.

Hi Sam!Yeah, def check with your Doc, so many things interact in weird ways or even just from person to person. Don't let that continue. And cut back on the cooooofffffffeeeeee, lol, you might not need sleep aid. (I have a love/hate thing going with coffee myself, hah. I try to limit it to one cup a day, early)

Hi Sam,
Your experience is very similar to mine. I do not find Trazodone to be surpressive... rather an energetic drug. I tried several dosages, ranging from 50 mg to 150 mg. At this dose I always had nightmares and weight gain was imminent.
Nowadays I only take a very low dose (25 mg*day)to repair my libido. I find that is the best use for this drug. This dose doesn't give side effects like weight gain & nasty dreams.
Best wishes,
