O.K.
I think I'm to the point of trying parnate. The trazodone has made me vomit today and feel like crap. Was thinking about trying wellbutrin sr, but not sure I want to go trying another ssri med that probably won't work. (not wild about the possible seizures either).
It just seems that among the reviews here and on other sites, the parnate could be the better option at this point.
I know that Jade and some others on here are on parnate. Would really appreciate advice and opinions on this. Such as how it made you feel, BP issues, what to do with hypo or hypertension episodes, how you felt once body adjusted, what you felt going on it and how did you feel two and three months afterwards.
I don't see that I'll have problems with the dietary restrictions. Woke up this morning and BP was 100/68. Very low for me. I don't think the side effects I'm having from trazodone are good.
Please tell me your stories, and experiences in detail. Am waiting for pdoc to call me back as I think I'm just done with this stuff. Can I still take remeron while waiting to take parnate or is that one a no-no med?
Jade - I know what you've gone through the last couple of weeks, but how are you feeling now? More stable?
Thanks alot,
Courtney :-(

Wellburtin isn't an SSRI. Many find the brandname better than generic. It's stimulating and seizures usually only over 450mg. Might want to search babble for recent posts. Also It can sometimes lead to weight loss. Don't know if that's an issue for you. Good luck on deciding. Phillipa

Sorry that stuff was yuk. I'm feeling pretty stable on Parnate, the only side effect left for me is some daytime fatigue. Not everyone seems to have that effect, but we're all different! You know that I had a period of "what felt like" complete remission, so I just have the gut feeling this med is going to get me to 100%. I still have some tweeking to do. Most people respond faster than I have but if you think like I do, long term, I'll wait! I'd rather have the whole deal than partial response.
As for startup, insomnia was the biggest thing, klonopin and Melatonin worked well for me. There is the diet, I don't care about that at all. See the newer list, the old list had items that were found to have miniscule to no tyramine. You can have chocolate which I think you like, me too! The only thing I miss is cheddar cheese, i'll live.
Around the second week most people get a kind of rush, like your old self in a most excellent mood. Slightly euphoric. Lasted about 5-7 days for me. Every time I increased my dose, I got that same feeling but for 2-4 days. I think I listed for you all that you should have on hand, if we can't find the post, I'll line it up for ya again! I wasn't ready, and it was a pain having to learn the hard way.
Well, I don't want to repeat myself cause I think you are hoping to hear from others on Parnate. If you're left with any questions let me know. Anything specific to me feel free to babble-mail me. Talk to you soon, good luck!

Wrote this earlier before I saw your post -
Hey girl!
How have you been? There just doesn't seem to be alot of info out there on Marplan. (Maybe because its newer). So I guess I will just stick to Parnate. The more I research this med (and you know I will) LOL!!, the more comfortable I am becoming with it. Jeff has been alot of help.
Talked to pdoc today who immediately took me off of trazodone. Should not be making me vomit and should not be making my blood pressre drop to 95/60. I agree with that as now i feel like total crap after being on it. Sent Jeff (Captain America)a list of questions regarding parnate.
Wanted to know how you have been doing this week. Feeling better, stable or not so much?
I asked my pdoc how many of his patients on parnate ever had a hypertensive episode and he told me "none". So that makes me feel a little better. Am watching you closely to monitor how you are feeling. Hope things are getting better.
Let me know!!!
Courtney
Just so you don't have to repeat yourself. LOL!! Your answeres have helped me tremendously. I can handle a little fatigue, just want the energy, motivation and ability to get back out into the real world.Glad you are feeling well!!

Hey Courtney,
I'm doin great actually! I went out for a while today with my son, we stopped and got dinner. We laughed at each other. You know, normal!! I don't know if I told you but I upped my dose to 70mg, and I have the feeling thats my dose. Its so different for everybody. I'm hard headed I geuss! Glad I was patient and didn't quit. I doubt anything would have brought me out of that he*l but an MAOI.
So let me know if you have any remaining questions before you talk to PDoc! Hope you are feeling better.

Jade -
AWWWW! You have a son too!!! How old is he? Is he your only child? (Sorry, don't mean to be nosey) I have two sons (one is 18 and the other is 12) Boys definately love their moms. I work very hard at remaining as in control and normal as I can around them. It's hard because we are all so in tune with each other and they have been asking me alot if "I'm O.K.". So maybe I'm not able to hide this as much as I thought. Feel so guilty. Do not want my condition to effect their lives.
I'm sure it had something to do with looking pale and obviously feeling like crap over the last couple of days. Head is still buzzing tonight and I can feel electric currents going down my arms. I know from past experience with withdrawals this is normal for me, but it is still frustrating.
Was going through some of my books to find a good detox/cleanse that might help get this out of my system quicker. Have beefed up on my vitamin C and Omega's to help.
Doc put me on Seroquel for sleep and to help to get through the next couple of weeks.
I'm so happy you think you found the right dose. You sound great and that makes me feel alot better. Hopefully I will have a good response.
Please take care and keep feeling good!!!!
Will talk soon!
Courtney

Sorry to bug you again. Guess because I'm new and have no idea what "Babblemail" is, could you tell me how that works.
Also, I can tell I'm getting on Jeff (Captain Americas) nerves. He suggested that I read a post he put on "MD" regarding MAOI's diet and other restrictions. I don't really want to bother him again. What is MD?
Give me some direction please!
Thanks!
Courtney:-)

I know how you feel, I've only been here myself for a few months. Ah, the only thing I can think for Captain is that he already posted list on Med Board somewhere. You can go up to search and put his name and MAOI diet in and see if you find it. Don't worry, the worst that'll happen is you'll be following the old list instead of the new one.
Babblemail is basically what we're doing now except its private between you and I. Like if I wanted to give you my name and where I live and things like that. What you do is find any post That Ive posted, at the top my name will be in blue. Click on that. Write your message, but make sure you confirm on the bottom of message.
I have to go out but I'll get back to you later with the current food list or where to find it. Okay?
Take it easy, we'll get it all under control. Just in case you have a craving for a banana peel while I'm gone, thats a no-no.

LOL!!!
I laughed when I saw that on the list of no-no's. I can honestly say that I've never known anyone to eat banana peels. Maybe in other countries? HA HA!!!
Thanks,
CS
