I was prescribed Budeprion XL 150 three months ago, but because it costs me $124/mo (with insurance!) I have put off filling it until today.
My doctor prescribed it to help with depressive symptoms and to aid me as I try to quit smoking. I was on Wellbutrin (standard release) a couple years ago, and don't recall having any negative symptoms, but virtually everything I've read on these boards so far about Budeprion has been negative, so I'm feeling pretty discouraged, especially considering the price I'm paying for this generic.
I'm posting to solicit responses from anyone who has had a GOOD response to Budeprion--with mood, energy, desire to smoke, etc., etc. I'd appreciate anything you care to share.
Also, how long should it be before I feel any effects?
Thanks for reading.

Though many people do notice a difference between brand and generic, I don't think I did. However, I was on Zoloft as well at the time, so any greater/lesser effect probably wouldn't be as noticeable.
My pdoc told me (though you should take this with a grain of salt of course) that in her experience most people don't notice a difference. Remember that people who are posting about it are the ones who likely do; people who are doing okay on generic probably wouldn't post about it.
However, there have been enough people that notice a difference that it's significant, so my advice would be to give it a shot and monitor your moods and side effects closely to figure out how it works for you.

I take bupropion sr, which is probably cheeper than XL. And I find it works better than the brand name XL. Bupropion SR had me want to cut my smoking in half the first week I was on it. I didn't even know thats what the medicine did. I never whated to quit all the way though. I take nicotine lozenges with the bupropion sr and I have cut my smoking down to one ciggarette a day.

Hi, I take Wellbutrin SR. It has helped my mood a lot and I don't respond to meds very well. I take it with Cymbalta. I think you will see a quick response to the med (because that's the way it works). Sorry that you have to pay so much for it.
