i think i FINALLY found a mix that works for me this go around. it just took almost exactly a year to find it.
on:
Pristiq 50mg (am)
zyprexa 5mg (pm)
Adderall 20mg TID
xanax 1mg (pm)However it's taken FOREVER for the pristiq to kick in. in my chart i finally started to level off-ridding of horrible depression about 6 weeks after starting. i had a bout of highs at 7weeks but i also started Adderall at that time. then at 8 weeks i had very slight downs. at 9 weeks i leveled with only a few slight downs and NOW i am at 10 weeks Pristiq and 4 weeks Adderall (though just started 20mg up from 10) and i feel Great!
Now the holiday's always S@ck for me so that will be the real test of the meds.
my depression always greatly increases between Thanksgiving and New Years.**********
I just now need to figure out if i'm gonna be happy and bald.
my hair has been falling out ever since i started the pristiq and hasn't subsided any. but luckily i have naturally thick hair. i just hope it's all growing back at the same time its falling out.anyone else on pristiq notice this? maybe i'll make another thread about that.
Thanksb2c.

B2chica glad you found meds that help your depression . Holidays are horrible for so many. Losing hair can also be signs of thyroid problems. It the hair loss listed as side effect of any of your meds? Love Phillipa

ya, pristiq. my T told me a couple other of her patients on pristiq also lost hair.
i think there was a post not too long ago asking if there was a coorelation of dopamine to hair loss. makes sense to me since pristiq is a dopamine release and reuptake inhibitor.

Oh wow but thought pristiq was like effexor so wouldn't that be serotonin and norepenephrine? Not good with neurotransmitters. Love Phillipa

Think it's mainly SSRI and an NRI in higher doses. Doesn't seem to have a hugely significant DRI effect at prescribed doses and the effect is fixed, meaning more (possibly) 5HT and NE than desired.
Even Bupropion has only a very weak effect on dopamine, despite often being described as an NDRI in a lot of medical literature. A lot of downstream changes make it hard to estimate, although with pristiq at least the metabolism of the drug is more straightforward since it's a metabolite itself. It is not a releaser of DA but amphetamine is.

i only know the info for effexor and i'm just guessing pristiq and effexor are the same.
pristiq is a DA reuptake inhibitor (and 5ht and NE reuptake inhibitor), it's adderall thats DA release. sorry i didn't clarify.west was right effexor is not known to have a huge DRI effect at standard doses, however it must be just the right amount for me since buproprion also worked Great for me before it pooped out.

i spoke too soon. i had almost two weeks doing well. i'm slowly sinking back. i'm hoping though that is won't go that low, that its just a rough patch.
i'm doing everything i can to help not going down. hoping to stay with minor lows.
d@mn.**i did read a post above about stimulants sometimes worsening depression, i wonder if there's a coorelation with my increase in adderall with my depression??
but thanks for your kind words.
