Hello,
I have severe OCD. I have tried Luvox, Anafranil, Paxil, Prozac, Lexapro and augmented with antipsychotics as well as wellbutrin. I have looked into alternatives such as Kanna, Tramadol, Phenibut, and many others. The tramadol has helped with Mood drastically with virtually no side effects, but it hasn't been consistent. Currently I'm looking at Tianeptine (Stabalon) and Hydergine as well as Piracetam . I'm confused about the Stabalon, its listed as a SSRE (a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Enhancer) I cannot find what the word Enhance actually means. Why would you want the reuptake enhanced??
Anyways, does anyone have any positive expereince with any drugs other than SSRIs, Tricylics?? Once my emotions are blunted with SSRIs I began to feel worse cause i feeling like i dont' care makes me feel bad and on top of that the sexual frusturation is enough to put me through the roof.

Not being funny, but doesn't this make you wonder why anyone would want reuptake inhibited? As a seasoned tianeptine user I think they've got it the wrong way around. What we need are more SSREs on the market. Given a fair chance I think they'd easily outsell the SSRIs. Tianeptine might not be great for OCD though, I once saw a pubmed arictle where a young french woman had to be restrained due to compulsive masturbation while taking tianeptine. She said she just couldn't help herself.

You might want to look into the use of memantine (Namenda) for OCD.

I doubt that piracetam will be of much use to you. Those drugs were just a strain for me.
Tianeptine is worth a thought, as is Hydergine.

OCD is notoriously hard to treat with medication. I personally don't have "primary" OCD and it's moderate (it can be fairly bad but when it is, I break out of it after a couple of hours max). I am bipolar and do notice less OCD symptoms when my BP is behaving.
However, I do think transcendental-type meditation, 20 minutes twice a day, helps with OCD as well as anxiety. I say transcendental-type because I don't buy the religious stuff, but the technique is definitely effective.
That said, clonazepam seems to help all my symptoms, including OCD, when I take it. I take a large dose about twice a week to break up what they call a "mixed state".

to blueboy,
its funny you say that. I was JUST doing a bunch of research on TM yesterday. I didn't get to find the actual "technique" of TM and how it differs from other methods of meditation. have any input?
how large is the dose you take? >2mg?
thx
