Changed mind on Dostinex....:-( Arimidex anyone??

Posted by Jay_Bravest_Face on July 7, 2008, at 16:01:35

Well, I paid like 120 bucks for the Dostinex, but when it arrives, I won't be taking a dose. Down the toilet it will go. As SLS mentioned, and I was very aware of, the risk of the so-called deadly "Leaky Heart Valve" syndrome that has come up in major research is not worth it.

So....I am off again! Looking for med to help with sex drive, and if it can, weight-loss too. I was looking at Arimidex. My testosterone is not increasing even though I am on the max dose of gel for. Arimidex apparently majorly increases testosterone in men, and decreases harmful estrogen in men as well. I am going to have a look. Oh btw...yes I have tried Requip/Mirapex for sexual dysfunction. No go.

Thanks for listening..
Jay

Get off the gel if it is not increasing test and wait a month and get tested for testosterone and estradiol. If your estradiol is high that is probably the cause of your low testosterone. In that case a milligram a week of arimidex may normalize testosterone. Dostinex works if prolactin is high.

Just curious if you've tried the sex herbs. Tribulus? Horney Goat Weed? Two or three other powerhorses I can't remember at the moment? Not referring to yohimbe or damiana. Forget those. Curious about the others though.

I second getting tested for estradiol. Quest Labs has an ultra-sensitive estradiol test. That's the one you want from everything I've read.

If your estradiol is high, then small doses of Arimidex will likely help you. If your estradiol turns out to be low to normal (below 30, I believe) and you also have low testosterone levels, it may be that you're simply not absorbing the gel, in which case you might consider another form of testosterone delivery, e.g., shots.

For those who don't like shots and gels don't work they have pellet implantation.

AFAIK, testosterone, unlike DHEA, is not absorbed well through the skin.

Pellets and shots are invasive and irreversible.

Troches cause strong spikes in the testosterone level.

The slow release oral preparation is the one I take. It seems OK, but is expensive.

What's the name of the preparation you take? Thanks!

I just have it made up in a compounding pharmacy.

The script says 'slow release testosterone'.
