Anyone tried Once A Day Luvox CR?

Posted by aabag on June 22, 2008, at 21:16:59

I notice that Luvox CR is now available in a once a day formulation from Jazz Pharmaceuticals.

Has anyone tried this anti-depressant formulation (fluvoxamine is the active ingredient) and do you find it effective?

Does the once daily dosing of fluvoxamine with the timed release make a positive difference if you've also tried the traditional luvox doses of 2 or more times a day?

It comes in 120mg capsule and I take 50mg of regular at night. I don't think I want to. Have you taken regular before and what has your experience been? Phillipa

No, I have never take any formulation of Luvox before (fluvoxamine) . I have a Dx of social anxiety and generalized anxiety, pretty much always have.

I'm going in to the doctor tomorrow to request Luvox CR (the extended release variety that just came out in April indicated for SAD) and we'll see how that goes. Doesn't seem any pharmacies have Luvox CR yet, but they'll special order it, I've been told.

I have taken EMSAM, and its been the best antidepressant for me of them all (Prozac, Lexapro, Serzone, Effexor, Buspar, Cymbalta, Amisulpride ), but in truth, even EMSAM does not seem to touch the social/generalized anxiety. All these serotonergic medications i've tried, don't do the trick of letting you just relax, enjoy, un-freeze and cease being so self critical, introspective, and rejection-sensitive.

I haven't tried it but I doubt it makes a lot of difference -- also it makes it harder in some cases to bump up a regular dose because the formulation is not completely comparative.

In my opinion it is a patent extension now that the maker isn't skittish about Columbine incidents and other things that they ran fleeing protecting their a**-ets from the market of Luvox and fluvoxamine becaome generic.
