Anyone tried niacinamide as an anxiolytic?

Hi Fred no but used to take it years ago no flushing of face. How high a dose is for anxiety? Should get some myself if positive responses posted. Love Phillipa

I have not. You know how various doctors have websites? Well, I stumbled onto one once where the doctor was using niacinimide as his primary tool for anxiety patients. It took large doses, though I can't remember what they were. And it took several weeks to really work. I don't think it was an immediate thing like benzos. Most of his patients did very well. One I recall did not. I'm not sure if single doses would have effect, though in the back of my mind I think I recall some people here said it did.
Niacinimide also slows down liver phase I, which is for many sick people a good thing, since an overwhelmed liver phase II from a too-fast phase I causes all kinds of yucky symptoms. This is a fairly common protocol with mercury chelation folks.

Yes, I've taken it. There's still a big bottle of it in the back of my cupboard. Can't say I noticed much effect to be honest.

niacinamide kind of helps my anxiety. With a bezo on board, there's some kind of synergy betwee the two that really, really helps out my probs.
I've read that dosages can vary wildly, with some people takig grams upon grams daily...how much have you tried to take?

My health store only sells Niacin, so I haven't got any yet

If you were asking me, I took about 1-2g/day (1000mg tablets 'Nature's Plus' brand).

My doctor told me to buy flush-free niacin to lower my cholesterol. I was told to take 500mg. the first day then titrate up to 2,000mg. I took one capsule and that's it for me! Felt weirdly anxious.
I have a feeling that I am in a bit of tolerance withdrawal to my benzo and that the B vitamins can have a paradoxical effect on benzo withdrawal. My theory anyway but I won't take it. Don't believe women need cholesterol drugs anyway unless they have heart disease or family history.
This is the end of the thread.
