hello,
anyone with experience i'd love to hear from,
i was switched from xanax .5 2/day to klonopin 1mg. 2/day~ the klonopin seems to cover my anxiety all day long which is a godsend but i'm concerned about the postings about klonopin and depression worsening and depression presenting itself with long term usage? is this a given?
why would klonopin cause depression as opposed to xanax? will the mood stabilizing effect of klonopin keep me from achieving a good(happy) stable mood? i'm confused???
any info. much appreciated! thanx

Some a lot of folks have great results with klonopin. Personally wasn't for me. Xanax is known to have a slight ad effect. If the klonopin is working for you your're anxiety is well on it's way to maybe be gone. Good luck and meds effect us all differently. Phillipa

All benzodiazepines have the potential of causing depression (they are CNS depressants) but that doesn't mean each one will or any of them will for one person. And as you have experienced, there are paradoxical reactions to some as well. Its just a matter of seeing if things work out for you over time -- just because some people say the adage that klonopin can cause depression so can others.

Exactly, klonopin doesn't depress me at all and it's probably been 6 months now. I've never had a depressive reaction to any benzo. Clonazepams mood stabilizing properties have probably helped me more than any other drug except for ropinirole and modafinil but I couldn't tolerate ropinirole which was a shame.
