I did a search here on Parnate poop out. Most of what I found was personal experience or trying ways around it.
I was looking for any kind of study as to why this happens.
Years ago my pdoc told me that after a year or more vacation there was a good chance it would work again. NO such luck.
Thinking after about 5 or 6 years since I tried it to try again. Just wondering if I am wasting my time.
Also some posts by willyee and others about how Parnate has been reformulated in the US I know nothing about this. Perhaps that is the reason it did not work again even after several years?okydoky

I don't know WHY but Parnate stopped working for me after 1.5 years. I tried going back on it, but I had awful side effects. I don't understand why because I was on 80 mg with no side effects. When I tried to go back on it, I couldn't get past 10mg.

That was what I was trying to find research of something on. Everyone on the board seems to know it poops out but no one provides any insight as to why.
My old pdoc suggested that after a couple of years it might work again. I tried it several times after and had no luck.
Have you tried Marplan, Nardil, Moclobimide or Selegiline?
When the Parnate started pooping out on me I used to stay on it about three months (supplementing it with other drugs) and then change to Marplan for three months and then Moclobimide for about two months as it did not do much for me. Each time did a washout for a week. Nardil never helped.
If parnate worked it might be worth trying the other MAOI's.
