Need info about Lyrica for Bipolar and Neuropathy

Posted by mindart on January 2, 2008, at 23:00:19

I have bipolar II and peripheral neuropathy, and I need any info and/or experience people have with taking Lyrica in med cocktail with mood stabilizers, anti-depressants, benzos, etc. I take depakote, trileptal, wellbutrin, klonopin, cymbalta for nerve pain (and anti-depressant effect), and now I've added Lyrica for the nerve pain too. I know I am over-medicated because since adding the Lyrica, I feel stoned for first half of the day and can't work. It works really well for relieving nerve pain but I'm too spaced out...any suggestions would be appreciated.

Lyrica is sedating at low dose but activating at higher dose (300 mg x 2 per day .. and higher). Some people go as far a 1200 mg per day, but it could be too much activating for bipolar people. You could try that.

Btw, I'm supposedly Bipolar 2 and I'm having neuropathic pain in the face. I'm taking low dose Clonazepam (Rivotril) and low dose Lamotrigine (Lamictal). My dose of Lyrica is 300mg at night and 150mg in the morning.

You may want to read some of my earlier posts on this forum about Lyrica. Try google "Lyrica Marty" and you should found them all.

Good luck!
