Any success stories with Seroquel for psychosis?

Posted by Basia on February 3, 2008, at 6:17:23

Hi

I tapered down from 800mg of Sulpiride while ramping up Seroquel to 450 mg. I have been on the Seroquel on its own for 3 weeks now and although today has been a bit better due to increasing it to 450mg from 400mg last night, I still feel out of touch with reality since I have been taking it on its own. My BP1 psychosis has been controlled for 8 years with Sulpiride but I had to stop it due to hyperprolactinemia which stopped my period for years. My bones are thinning as a result.

I would really like to know how long it might take to kick in. It worked immediately for sleep, but I am desperate for the AP effects to start. I have been feeling a bit paranoid and have had many strange visual distortions in the past couple of weeks. It tends to get hellish if I go into the city centre and i only feel safe at home.

I would love to hear your success stories to encourage me! I am desperate.

I am also on Lamictal 400mg.

Thanks!

Lyn

I use seroquel for psychotic depression. It works, but it took over a week. I am only on 200 mg. Since you are on such a large dose you should either ask for the SR version or split the dose (am and pm).

Have you ever tried risperdal or zyprexa? I know they are used for BP1. Although I lactated on both of them. Seroquel has not made me lactate but it makes my periods VERY heavy.

Good luck!

Maxime
