I started at 30 mg Cymbalta one week ago and felt better for a couple of days but now don't feel anything. My doc said to go up to 60 mg after 2 wks but I've been reading on this board that most people are told to increase to 60 mg after 1 week, or even after a couple days, and some are even started at 60 mg. I'm thinking about going ahead and increasing now. Any thoughts? Thanks!

My advice is to follow your own doctor's instructions. Your doctor may know something specific about your medical history which we don't, and that information may be very relevant.
As far as feeling better on Cymbalta, it's going to take a couple of weeks for the benefits to kick in. Every time you increase the dose, you'll have an adjustment period, so it's just as well to take it a bit more slowly -- it may be that raising the dose earlier will give you adverse effects that you'd miss out on if you waited a bit longer.
With all anti-depressants, it can take up to eight weeks after reaching an adequate dose before you feel the full effects. That doesn't mean that you won't experience any benefit sooner than that -- only that full benefits may take that long. With Cymbalta, I found that some benefits started sooner than others. One you've reached 60mg, stick with it, even if you don't feel quite as well as you hoped right away. Cymbalta was a pretty friendly drug for me, few side effects, and it helped my chronic pain from osteoarthritis.
Hope that helps.

Oh it definitely helped arthritic pain/!!!!! Didn't know till stopped the 60mg as hey where did this pain come from????? Yes I'd go with your doc too as I had one that wanted me to increase weekly and couldn't tolerate it but increasing by 30mg monthly worked fine. Good Luck Phillipa

I felt side effects right away and AD effects within a week or so on 30. I eventually ended up at 120, but it took several months to get there. The issue was that my life got more and more stressful, and I started to have breakthrough periods of depression
best of luck to you!

btw, I have some side effects, but I am happy to report NO sexual side effects. You don't hear that often on these drugs so I thought I would share a bit of good news.

you're very welcome!
I haven't been on cymbalta for a year now. It was an effective AntiDepressant for me for a long time, but at the high dose that I was on 120mg, I had sexual side effects and lots of daytime fatigue. thank god for coffee and provigil!
right now I'm responding really well to 50m of zoloft, which is an SSRI. I also take mood stabilizer lamictal which has some AD effects too.
Stick around on babble, post something silly on social, it would be nice to have you here!

thanks! i'm glad your current combo is working so well. I think i *will* post on social -- i was checking it out last night and found some really helpful stuff (about 'slackerdom') which made made me feel better since i suffer from low-no motivation myself. i think i remember your name from that board. :)
