Oh my. Sure brings back memories. About 2 years ago I had weaned off zyprexa a couple weeks earlier and thought I was doing fine, a little shakey, but ok. Then had to fly to Las Vegas to a company annual meeting. The first night there was in a small ballroom in a fancy hotel with hundreds of people crowded in all having the time of their lives, drinking, lots of loud music, lots of colored lights, and oh my I thought I was just going insane. I could not take it. I was absolutely petrified, manic, paranoid, whatever, just like you said...brain on fire. I went back to my room and took a 2.5mg dose of emergency zyperxa and wow an hour later I went back to the party and melted in just fine. A whole new comfortable world.
Zyprexa has got to be one of the most mysterious but most effective meds ever created. Too bad the weight gain turns so many people off. I do worry about longterm use of any antipsychotic, or any psych drug for that matter. But for short term immediate relief, all I can say is wow.

Zyprexa is the only antipsychotic I don't worry about long term. I've been taking it for 10 years, with nothing major. Absolutly not TD, or anything like that. All the others I had problems with. Geodon blurry vision, abilify shaky and twitches, perpenazine(think it was this) twitches, risperdal stiff and holucinating. Zyprexa, probably diabetes, may have been the alcohol, but think they both may have done it. And a bit of weight, nothing major. Both under control with metformin. Infact doc thinks I can cut down on metformin, seems to think its the thyroid medicine, I think its the alcohol, and sugar. The only time I have to realy worry about sugar is morning with breakfast, bowl of cereal, always gets high. Much higher when I drink the night before, even just 1.5 drinks, it major. It also apears higher when I take more zyprexa than normal. Currently taking 15mg zyprexa with metformin and sugar undercontrol, and can eat resonably.
Deffinitly makes me sane!
