I cut celexa to 20 for GF and then went back to 40 and realized I feel flat and emotionless. I'm stopping klonopin because it enables me to not feel the anxiety you need to feel to get off your *ss and to get a job, save your life. Now I feel like meds just blunt you I want to stop celexa too. I don;t think we get better I just think we get numb from this stuff.

Hi,
May I ask why you are taking celexa (what does GF stand for)?
While it is true that meds like celexa have a numbing effect, that may be preferable over feeling depressed, anxious and overwhelmed. However, lacking motivation and a normal amount of anxiety can create new problems. Finding some kind of balance is still possible.
Have you discussed this problem with your pdoc? Other antidepressants have more of a noradrenergic effect and may be more suitable for you.
Nellie.

I am going through the same thing with Zoloft (but it doesn't make me tired).
Have you tried Wellbutrin? It's not an SSRI and it might be a better choice for you.

It's called the SSRI Apathy Syndrome, and it is pretty common. There are plenty of people who feel just great on SSRIs, but I think there are even more people than that who notice they feel flat and emotionless. And even though doctors see it all the time, day in and day out, they seem almost oblivious to it, almost blaming it on incomplete response or part of the depression still lingering. It's not that. It's SSRI induced apathy. Too much serotonin quashing out the roles of norepinephrine and dopamine.
This is the end of the thread.
