Has anyone combined adrafinil or modafinil with tianeptine? 2 months of tianeptine has helped with depression but my concentration is still pretty bad. I've tried modafinil without being on an antidepressant and it didn't do much but I thought adrafinil could perhaps work as an adjunct to tianeptine. I've also tried the usual ritalin/dexedrine which only ever gave me a headache.

Be very very careful my dear. I would never recommend this because, I was almost to end up in psychiatric emergency room today because of Modafinil + Tianeptine combo. What I experienced was a genuine bad "Trip" usually one experiences under the influence of LSD. Like my senses have overturned and the fear this drug induced effect will not go away turned me into extremely panicky and agitated. I walked restlessly inside my Office as a caged lion, grunting, not knowing whether to scream and break all the furniture.
Fortunately, I had kept some Ativan and Xanax handy with me. I chewed 2 mg Ativan first, but the severity of symptoms were so intolerable so not waiting for more, I chewed 2 mg Xanax too. After 15 minutes, the panic and agitation seems to be lessening. But still I have a very clouded sensorium that doesn't allow me to work properly. I just keep typing and typing..
I know Stablon can induce a depersonalization effect which some enjoy, but for me it was like all is coming to an end. Thanks Xanax. You are the life saver here, because I could manage it without making it to the psychiatic clinic here. I hope many in this board will have extremely unpleasant experiences in a psychiatric emergency. Especially where Docs use cheap major tranquilizers to calm patiens which eventually contributes to severe akathisia. Akathisia itself can kill a patient if not treated well. I once experienced it when I visited the emergency room here with vertigo. They administered Prochlorperazine, and the whole night, I had to spend wih my magnificent friens who were very supportive, but still couldn't help what I was experiencing.
Once again, please be very careful when you mix two drugs, because you never will know how both are affecting you.
Cheers.

Heh. Yeah well, but aren't you hypomanic already? It's not surprising something extra tipped it into psychosis. I don't know if that says much about the actual applicability of this combination, which I think is theoretically fairly interesting (although I don't like modafinil).

I have used Stablon (tianeptine) in the past for at least a month without any side effects. But I didn't get it from what I was expecting. I expected it to work on anhedonia, and motivation, but that only disppointed me. It is a good AD with fewer side effects, but definitely not worth a try along with stimulants. Stablon can act as a mild stimulant in many individuals (one reason it has been scheduled in at least two south Asian countries) I think this mild stimulant action can act synergically with other stimulants one take. Here I was on a fairly good dose of Provigil plus another mild stimulating drug Trivastal. And the addition of Stablon was more than bearable for my pure brain. So it acted weirdly. I don't blame Stablon for a single isolated incident, there could be or not be some problems in my brain chemistry. But it is always nice to share one's experiences, Let it be pleasant or scary here. Afterall, this forum is for mutual support. I don't want any other in this forum to go through the hell I just passed.

Bad combos for me
Adrafinil and Hydergine
Tianeptine and Parnate
(I ended up disliking the effect of Adrafinil.)
Better ones
Tianeptine and SAMe
Tianeptine and deprenyl
(I've kinda ended up disliking the effect of tianeptine.)Good one (except for sleep)
Rhodiola and deprenyl
This is the end of the thread.
