Currently taking depakote. Good for anxiety and mania. Regular blood tests required. My aunt takes neurotin for headaches. Does her well. Lyrica is used for generalized anxiety disorder and also as a mood stabilizer. It is more potent then gabapentin (neurotin). Neurotin has limited usefulness in the treatment of anxiety disorders.

GoodLuck : )

I had no side-effects on Neurontin, but it did nothing for me unless I took huge doses (4000+ mg) at once, in which case it was disinhibiting like Klonopin, but with less sedation and psychomotor retardation.

Why is Lyrica used for anxiety? I read that its primary use is for neuropathic pain. What are the mechanisms of lyrica to explain its apparent effect on anxiety?
