I'm doing OK thanks to lithium. The past
year has been horribly painful, and continues
to be a challenge. But if it were not for
the lithium, the worst could have happened.
I managed to be rational and to even do well
in some projects. Had i taken lithium before
the bipolar onset 27 yrs. ago while taking the
doctorate, i may have succeeded then too.Medication is so important in enabling to
meet hard times in life. I think it would
be a good idea to introduce a mental health
class in schools for children before embarking
on life's journey.Lithium is a miracle drug, but it does not
obliterate emotions, unfortunately. But at
least you do remain human-- much more than
the state some people fall into when unmedicated.Squiggles

Hey Squggles, does lithium help with anxiety? And how about insomnia (resulting from the anxiety)? Good to hear that you are doing OK.

It does help with anxiety, but as i am also
taking clonazepam, it has been a long time
since i can recall the anxiolytic effects
of lithium, solo. I do notice that i sleep
a bit less and wake up at night, but that may
be because i am eating less. Still, pretty
remarkable drug;I don't really have anxiety. As i said
to my doctor, i have sorrow. There ain't
no cure for that in my knowledge, except time i'm afraid.Squiggles
