Posted by robroy on September 27, 2007, at 21:23:45

I AM BEING PRESCRIBED PERIACTIN AND MY DOCTOR IS CLUELESS WHETHER OR NOT IT MAY WEAR OFF IN MONTHS.
I KNOW ONE ARTICLE SAID IT WORE OFF IN EIGHT MONTHS OR LESS FOR SOMEONE. I'M THINKING FOR SOME PEOPLE, AT LEAST YEAR OR MORE,IF ANYTHING.

I see it's an antihistamine with multiple uses. What would you be using it for and why do you feel it lasts so long? Phillipa

It's difficult to read all caps...

Periactin is used for a variety of purposes. I've never heard of it "wearing off," by which I think you mean becoming ineffective? My guess is that it depends in part on what you're using it for, and how.

When I've been on serotinergic medications which cause anorgasmia, I've used Periactin for relief. It's always been effective for me, although that's an as needed thing, so I don't take it all the time.

Good luck with it.
