What can be used to battle anxiety when benzos don't work anymore? I've been on benzos over 25 years and have developed tolerance to them.

benzos are non-toxic, generally speaking so...you might just need to up the dose a little. Some people take 4, 6, 8mgs/day Klonopin (keep in mind each mg/Klonopin=20mgs/Valium), so there's room for dosage increases.
If I were you, I'd avoid switching to BuSpar or antidepressants, and especially avoid neuroleptics. If you need some GABAergic drugs, benzos are the cheapest, safest, most effective, and best::you probably just need to up the dose some, unless there's a big reason not to.
Vitamins can help, too, along with the drugs. B3 in particular can be anxiolytic/antipsychotic when you run into the 4+grams a day zone.Good luck.

Hi King,
Had the same problem a while ago.
Best option according to my psy was a complete withdrawal for a few weeks. When my body was 'clean' again I took only have a tab of Ativan again, it worked like a charm.
You could also try switching to a low dose anti-psychotic for a few weeks. Seroquel for example.

Same problem here. But you can't just stop a benzo can you? What about withdrawal? And bumping up the dose isn't possible if the doc won't do it. Love Phillipa

I haven't tried it but it's an anticonvulsant GABA stimulator used for anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, pain disorders.
