What do you mean when you say these drugs don't work on you? How long have you been taking them?
You know, one of the problems with Adderall is that you build tolerance to it very fast. If you already took it for a long time, you might have built tolerance to it, and (at least in my experience) there's no way of ever making it work again after tolerance has been built.
Personally, I wish I hadn't taken it on a daily basis (like my "smart" p-doc prescribed it!!) I should have used it only in specific situations where I truly needed it--that way I could have continued to benefit from it.
But after taking it for 2 weeks daily, its effects were GREATLY diminished. I didn't know why, so I continued taking it for another 2 months--I felt it was doing "something" even though the effects weren't nearly as powerful as they were when I first started it.
By the time I realized, it was doing nothing. I decided to stop taking it for several months--to see if I could make it work again. So I stopped it for around a whole year, hoping that it would work again. Well, guess what? It never worked again. Never, ever.
So if you've been taking it regularly, god knows if you can make it work again. My experience was negative after taking it regularly. My only advice to you would be: Take it as needed. And only as really and truly needed. Otherwise, you'll build tolerance to it, and that will be the end of the wonderful adderall. Just like it happened to me.
Good luck

Hi Reese so it's kind of like a fast acting with a time release for a better response? Is that what your pdoc hopes to accomplish. My best to you. Love Phillipa

I went back on Adderall XR after being off of it for about 6 months. Although I had previously taken 40mg daily, I only asked my new p-doc for 30mg. Well, it wasn't quite cutting it by mid afternoon on most days, so he prescribed 10mg regular Adderall to take after lunch.Although that seemed like a good solution, I found the 10mg too enervating and after a month or so, I asked the doc if would prescribe 40mg XR and eliminate the 10mg regular. He agreed and 40mg XR works pretty well for me, at least for now. In retrospect, if I had divided the 10mg pill and taken half about 1 PM and half about 3 PM, it may worked better for me, so give it a shot.

That's a good idea. I need to start doing that.

Good Afternoon All,
Here's what I do, if this helps for you any. I take Adderall XR and Adderall Immediate Release as well but here's the key for me. In order for me not to develop a tolerance, which has worked well for me personally and I can only speak for myself. I take the Adderall 20mgXR in the morning some days and the 10mg immed release in the afternoon. Then other days, mind you, unplanned and unscheduled days, I switch it and take the immediate release in the morning and the XR in the afternoon. I also take a weekly holiday that's never the same day each week, that way my body never knows when I'll show up unannounced...lol
