Anyone On Lexapro And Depakote for BIPOLAR?

Posted by BabyBunny on June 20, 2007, at 10:22:05

Hello. We're still trying to find a good combo to help stabilize my Bipolar I Mixed with Rapid Cycling, Borderline PD and All the Anxiety/Panic Disorders.

It's clear I HAVE to take something to combat the depressive part of my Bipolar. I've tried them all but not in combination with certain mood stabilizers.

So today we added just 5mg of Lexapro to the now 250mg of Depakote and 3mg of Xanax XR I take each day. I am one who seems to do better on low doses and cannot tolerate high doses of anything (except things for anxiety as my anxiety is so severe).

Again we're trying something new with hope. And Geodon, Lamictal, and the like don't really do much for my depression (they make me too anxious) although I've been prescribed those types of meds for both depression and mood stabilization. I do however take 25-50mg of Seroquel at night, but that's for sleep (along with 3mg Lunesta).

Has anyone ever tried this combo of Lexapro and Depakote? What about at such low strengths?

ANY AND ALL help would be greatly appreciated as I am constantly on the search for something to stabilize me. The past 2 weeks have been horrible with SEVERE mixed episodes all the time.

Thank you. Have a great day!

I'm like you can't tolerate hight doses of antidepressants but require high doses or wierd combos of benzos for anxiety. Good luck to you. Love Phillipa

UPDATE! Anyone On Lexapro + Depakote for BIPOLAR?

Wow! I took my 1st dose of lexapro a little bit ago and already I can feel it. I'm not crying anymore and don't feel as depressed. I do feel a little bit ummm (not sure of how to say it) duhhh I guess. LOL But it's not bad AT ALL!

I mean I can think clearly and all so maybe duhh isn't right. I just feel like whoaaa. LOL (Don't ya love my descriptions?) That's a better way to say it. I mean I can tell I took something. Maybe this is a sort of Euphoric feeling? Not sure. I think that would be the best way of describing it. Other than whoa, of course. LOL

And I MUST ADD that I decided at the last minute to take 2.5mg INSTEAD of the 5mg. I know that low doses work well with me so I just wanna start as low as possible.

So MAYBE 2.5mg works for those of us who are med sensitive or are Bipolar and need an Antidepressant? I have hope it just may because I actually am feeling better and better all the time! Yea! I'm smiling! :) And I DO feel better. But it is only the 1st day...

I'll keep you updated! Or maybe make a new post that may attract more attention as I feel this is kind of a big deal as I have read others that sound similar to myself. Wow! This is so cool!

Take care everyone! Have a great day! I think I just may for the 1st time in MONTHS! *crying tears of joy*
