Hi all
My old beloved prozac doesn't seem to help me anymore @40mg daily. I upped the dose to 60mg but still nothing good happened except increased side effects.
My question is: Currently I am on 40mg of Prozac. I know Prozac has a looong half life. So, how many days I will have to wait after stopping prozac to start Fluvoxamine (Luvox in US, Faverin in UK)

Depends on the doc mine would just switch starting on a low dose. What's you diaganosis? Love Phillipa

My diagnosis: Depression with anxiety.Are you on Luvox? Did it give you any start up anxiety?

Pluto no that is the strange thing for me. I was in the hospital at the time my thyroid was off but they didn't know where the high anxiety was coming from. They changed the thyroid dose and I was on paxil l0mg with xanax. The pdoc decided to experiement on me. I was terrified to take the first dose of 50mg but I felt nothing at all. I got up to 250mg there but with 4-6mg of ativan and chloral hydrate to sleep. Then went home and he reduced the dose by 50 mg and switched me back to paxil at 20mg this time and xanax again. No idea why. Then I got anxious so back to the luvox and he kept the xanax and I was fine until he took me off for a celexa trial as it was new. I didn't want to go off but I did. I couldn't tolerate the high dose of luvox again. Two years later another pdoc put me on it and I was more high this time and it kind of pooped out after two weeks. And from that point haven't tolerated high doses but it's the only ad I tolerate so on l00mg now with valium 20mg and lunesta 3mg and.5 of xanax at bedtime. So as far as I'm concerned with my history of not tolerating any other ad no start up effects. Love Phillipa ps I was on the benzos though.
