Hello all! New here, I am a BP, the milder case, and just have been put on Seroquel, a starter's kit, with a max dose of 300mg, and Lamictal. Also on Lexapro,20mg, Klonopin 1mg, and Suboxone, 16-20mg a day. This is only day 2 of Seroquel and Lamictal, but I am a bit concerned because now I understand that it is a dopamine antagonist, which means it blocks your dopamine receptors! I don't like that idea, because although I am hypomanic, I don't like the idea of having my dopamine recopters blocked, because, I just don't. (I had only been on 1200 mg of Trileptal until 2 days ago, and that never seemed to help with my hypomanic symptoms at all.) How does anyone feel about this, and has it helped others? Also, the side effects, like so far, I have to take 100mg of it tonight, I do not like the sedation that I am feeling, I already sleep alot as it is, I can sleep way for 12 hours easily without seroquel, and with it, I feel more groggy getting up, and the sedation is not fading at all. Does this fade with time? How much time? A doctor tried to put me on Abilify before, but I stopped it because I was so overly sedated I was like a zombie, it just wasn't worth it, I didn't like it. Worried it's the same way with Seroquel.
Anyone, seeing as it's a dopamine antagonist, I used to party, I don't anymore, haven't in a long time, but if I ever do-because I am not swearing drugs and alcohol off for the rest of my life, that's just too scary...although I haven't done either in almost 2 years. Let's just say, hypothetically speaking, what would the effect be if you were to do coke (and be on seroquel)? Antagonist means block- so will it not work, or have a bad reaction, or maybe less of a reaction because some of your dopamine receptors are already blocked? I know that is a very horrible question, but I really am just curious as to what would happen. (I'm not planning on it, this is just hypothetical)
