Any one have experience or have thoughts about this combo? Trying to overcome depression and lability associated with Dexedrine use. A/D's don't work.

This seems a bit stupid. Why not just quit Dex?

Only thing I can say, is PLEASE don't take more then 10 MG of Abilify daily as it often results in akathisia. And akathisia sucks. A lot.

How long have you been taking Dex?
How long have you been suffering depression + lability?

I took abilify with adderall for a while. Not a good combo. Its hard to describe--when I came off of those meds, my brain cleared (after a while) and I saw how the combo gave me the worst of both meds: artificially inflated (but labile) mood (amphetamines) and cognitive dulling, laziness (abilify). Combined, the duo really didn't help me out much. At all.
Have you tried BuSpar? Or...an anticonvulsant? Or..a BZD? AP+Amphetamine combos can help some people--they used to be popular, like the old Eskatrol pills for moody dieters--but the side effects can suck, and its a kind of mind-numbing combination (in my experience).

Thanks for responding. I think this is the latest in a "kitchen sink" psychopharm strategy - I think I'm going to go back 15 ydears to a strategy that actually worked - imipramine + lthium. Thanks for jogging my memory

taking dex about 10 years. The thrill is long gone - I'm a "dead man walking" - alert but anhedonic. Not eager tpo go through Dex withdrawal but I think it's high time (no pun) - imipramine + lithium worked years ago before dex - maybe time to revisit this

Thanks for replying. My experience with Dex ia up and down - sometimes wonderful, sometimes pretty awful (lability, depression). Do you take Wellburtin as well as Dex? Does this help?

taking dex for ADD. Sometimes helps; sometimes actually makes it worse!

Have you considered using memantine to augment the dex? If it works, and i don't see why it shouldn't, it will reverse the existing tolerance you have developed to dex and may also allow a dose reduction!
