I was wondering if there are any nardil users here in the US who are or have used it for social anxiety. I would love it if you could tell me about your experience with the drug.

SAD is Seasonal Affective Disorder not social anxiety

Michael re: SAD - does it? How confusing. I read somewhere that Metformin, the diabetic drug, can take off the weight that many put on with Nardil. Anyone know anything about this? My Dr was considering putting me on Metformin, but irritatingly, Nardil has brought my blood sugar back to normal. Well it's not really irritatingly. Also as Ken Willman says Nardil lowers blood pressure which is contrary to what Drs believe (if they believe anything about Nardil) Fred

In fact, thats probably a large contributor to my daytime sedation. My pdoc tells me to eat something with salt in it (I usually do Gatorade) to bring it back up.

Michael, remember I told you to use salt liberally? What is your BP averaging? If I end up on Nardil I will have severe hypotension since I have always had low BP and it will drop even lower with Nardil. There is a medication (florinef) to help with that if you can not get the BP into an acceptable range where you still have severe side effects from hypotension, like blacking out, etc.
Glad to see you are the Nardil ambassador in residence for the last few months

SG: Looks like I average around 95/65 with pulse of 58-57. No meds for me, if I want to raise BP, I will just eat some banana peels or pickled herring (jk).
Will e ya soon. Michael :)

or you can try blobbing out and eating salty junk food. I know the spacey feeling of BP drop on standing (orthostatic hypotension). But I'm not getting that. Could I still be getting low BP? I take antihypertensive drugs. Perhaps there's no need now. My Dr's so sick of me and my opinions so I'll just drop the hyperrtensives by myself for a few days to see if my energy returns.

Yes, you may not need your BP med anymore if your BP off meds stays in a good range. Can you reduce (split pill) the dose rather than stopping it, and monitor your BP daily.
Suggestion...
Check your BP daily while on the BP med.
" " " on a reduced dose.If your BP stays in the 100-130/60-80 range on the reduced dosage I would hold it there.
If you really wanted to stop it entirely I would call my doctor and have a followup reading with all your recordings of BP on and off the med.
I do this with my husband all the time to adjust his dosage perfectly. No sense having your low BP make you feel worse, that is definately a probelms too! I have low BP all the time and feel like $hit becasue of it!

The only problem is sometimes the cuffs that are used in the home are not as sensitive as thsoe in the MD's office.

Where do you get these BP cuffs? They don't seem to be on sale in NZ

Go to doc's office and steal one. I take latex gloves and cotton balls every time they leave me in the room alone.
Seriously, go online. Im sure you could buy one from 1000s places that deliver to NZ.

Thanks Michael yes I've found one on the net. Or I could buy a balaclava to wear next time I go to the docs. Perhaps he'd SUSPECT.
How are are you getting on with Nardil? I'm on 90mg now. I feel quite cool, but have long periods of daytime sleeping, am a fat slob and my head swims whenever I move (low BP). I take antihypertensives so I could try dropping them.
I wondered how your feelings compare with mine. This Nardil sure is industrial strength stuff
best
