I've been on meds for about 4 years - various different kinds and combinations - and the current cocktail consists of 6 varieties, 17 pills per day in total.
Has any one on similar levels ever just decided to stop them all at once - cold turkey? And if so... with what results?
Thanks

I know you're new, so I'd like to inform you that there is a focussed discussion board on this site, called Withdrawal. There are hot links to it on this board, at the top and very bottom of the list of posts. You'll probably get redirected (i.e. the post will be moved) over there, anyway.
After four years on all these meds, your body has found a certain balance, but one which is profoundly influenced by the continued exposure to whatever meds it is that you are taking. Suddenly stopping your intake could even be fatal, depending on what you're taking. I can almost guarantee your misery, at the very least. Even with slow tapers, many people find the process of drug withdrawal to be a substantial burden.
What is also important to think about are your motives. Why would you consider doing so?

Why would I? Or why did I? It's been over a week now. I just can't be bothered with it all any more. I've had enough of popping pills and I don't even know if any of them are doing anything. So this is one way to find out, I guess. Maybe just a whim? Who knows.
I did look at the withdrawal boards, but they all seemed focussed on one specific type at a time. In case you're interested, I'm on - sorry WAS on -
Pramipexole 4 x 1mg per day
L Tryptophan 6 x 500mg per day
Liothyronine 3 x 20mcg per day
Mirtazapine (Zispin) 1 x 15mg per day
Folic Acid 1 x 5mg per day
Sertraline 2 x 100mg per dayThese are UK names - I know some US ones are different.
Thank you for replying - I wasn't sure if anybody would

Well, that gives a different complexion to the situation. Some people do not experience withdrawal symptoms (lucky bastards), and from your tone, I'd speculate you're one such (lucky, not a bastard).

> Pramipexole 4 x 1mg per dayMirapex? I'm unsure that you'd even anticipate a withdrawal reaction from this. I'm just not familiar enough.
> L Tryptophan 6 x 500mg per day
Well, I wouldn't expect any withdrawal effects from this.
> Liothyronine 3 x 20mcg per day
Withdrawal effects would likely gradually grow over weeks, if you note anything at all.
> Mirtazapine (Zispin) 1 x 15mg per day
No withdrawal insomnia?
> Folic Acid 1 x 5mg per day
I wouldn't expect any withdrawal from this, either.
> Sertraline 2 x 100mg per day
Now, I'd have expected something from this; you're at about the point where full elimination would be anticipated, and withdrawal symptoms would be full-blown. Statistics can't be extrapolated to individuals, however, in either kinetics or symptoms.
> These are UK names - I know some US ones are different.Actually, what you supplied were the generic drug names, which I find most useful. Very seldom are generic names different in different countries. The only one that springs to mind is acetominophen/paracetamol.

Well, you're welcome. I don't know if I've said anything that's of any use to you.

You must be a lot like me as I don't experience the extreme withdrawal that others report from the AD's and remeron I just cold turkeyed wasn't doing anything anyway. And the alternatives I wouldn't think would matter. Love Phillipa
