I have been periodically taking seroquel. I've noticed some cardiac wierdness, mainly tighness, and occasional weird heartbeat. Anyone else? Mechanisms?

Can't say I've noticed it, but I do get chest pains and tightness from time to time anyway along with palpitations. It's a symptom of the stress and anxiety I'm trying to treat. Mitral valve prolapse is another possibility in that it can cause feelings of panic and anxiety.
Antipscyhotics can prolong the QT interval and cause arrhythmias as I'm sure you know, but this disappears after stopping the drug as far as I am aware. Does the problem go away after you've been off Seroquel for a few days?

Link I've noticed you refer to heart reactions in quite a bit of your posts. Have you gotten a cardiac work-up to rule out any abnormalities? I think this would be a good thing to do. Love Phillipa

No, I have had cardiac examinations and most seems to be ok.
Not all meds cause cardiac side effects for myself. I did not have this problem with any SSRI, just SNRI's like effexor, and of course seroquel.

> LinkadgeIt could be due to the PRN nature of taking Seroquel which, like most neuroleptics aren't really intended for taking PRN. However I assume you're taking like 12.5 or 25 or something for sleep, so you're only activating H1 ?
If that's the case, there can be momentary palpitations and other oddities upon sleep as it does cause low blood pressure and lay and rise heart aberrations. Unless you're taking a significant dose I wouldn't think the QTc part would even come into factor.

I take 100mg seroquel at night. If I wake up in the middle of my sleep (usually for midnight seroquel munchies), I feel very lightheaded. My head will sometimes tingle, and my breath is shallow at times. But during the daytime I'm back to my old self.
